SANTARÉM CULTURE

SANTARÉM CULTURA is a municipal project that, as part of its public service mission, aims to develop a regular, contemporary, and eclectic artistic program characterized by technical and artistic excellence, fostering close engagement between the community and a wide range of artistic forms and disciplines.

Through eSCALa, an ongoing educational, audience engagement, and community outreach project, SANTARÉM CULTURA also aims to raise awareness and educate new audiences, developing their critical, aesthetic, and creative sensibilities, and to foster encounters between the arts and diverse audiences and communities by offering participatory contexts within the contemporary art scene.

SANTARÉM CULTURA is a project that will play a central role in the cultural life of the city and the region, contributing to the integration of public cultural policies and forging links with the city’s other cultural institutions in order to foster a comprehensive network of resources and expertise in the field of artistic creation. As such, it will bring together municipal cultural institutions—namely the TSB, the CSF, the IAS, the Landal Palace, and the Casa do Brasil, as well as the Church of Graça’s sacristy; it will also engage with public and heritage spaces, extending its scope of action to the “islands” of the municipality—whether neighborhoods, towns, or parishes outside the city center. It will also establish partnerships and work together with local artists, emerging artists, and associations, cultural, artistic, social, educational, or other institutions, with the aim of fostering a close relationship with private social solidarity institutions (IPSSs) and other entities, through which it will provide cultural services to people and groups who are most disadvantaged or have limited access to such services.
